Plastic Waste

Today, the world produces over 400 million tons of plastic waste each year.

Plastic Waste

Half of all plastics ever manufactured have been produced in the last 20 years.

Aquatic Ecosystems

Every year, approximately 19-23 million tons of plastic waste find their way into aquatic ecosystems.

Species Impacted

Nearly 700 species, including endangered ones, have been impacted by plastics.

Degrade Years

As per research, plastic may take between 100 to 1000+ years to degrade.

India Emissions

According to a new study, India, responsible for nearly one-fifth of global plastic emissions—approximately 9.3 million tonnes annually—has been identified as the world’s largest plastic polluter.

All these harsh realities underscore the importance of this year’s Environment Day theme even more.

Beat Plastic Pollution

A call for urgent action to protect our planet
World Environment Day is an annual celebration that promotes support for the environment. Organised every year since 1973 on 5th June by the United Nations Environment Programme, the theme for this year's World Environment Day is “Beat Plastic Pollution”, which calls for collective action to tackle plastic pollution.

At ReNew, we recognize our responsibility towards the planet and are dedicated to creating a more sustainable and healthier world for all. On this Environment Day, we focus on raising awareness about the pressing environmental issue of Plastic Pollution and how it impacts life on Earth.

ReNew's efforts in this direction

Eliminating Single-Use Plastics

Eliminating Single-Use Plastics

We discourage the in-house purchase and use of single-use plastics within our premises by providing sustainable alternatives like glass and metal bottles, bone-china cups and plates, steel cutleries, and paper straws.

Recycling and Composting

Recycling & Composting Responsibly

Through diligent waste segregation and collaboration with government-authorized recyclers, we ensure that 100% of our waste is diverted from landfills.

Sustainable Materials

Use of Sustainable Materials

We prioritize using sustainable materials like microplastics-free green chemicals for floor cleaning and opt for emulsions over plastic paints. We also provide jute bags for carrying inventory or daily items.

Policy Advocacy

Advocating for Policy Change

We actively support policies and initiatives aimed at reducing plastic usage and promoting sustainable practices at local, national, and global levels.

Plastic Collection

Plastic Collection

We segregate plastic waste from the trash collected at the reservoir of our Singoli Bhatwari project on the Mandakini river, Uttarakhand. The plastic waste is sent to the Nagar Panchayat’s recycling center through our partnership.

Plastic Transformation

Plastic Transformation

To date, we have collected over 1000 kgs of plastic waste, which we transformed into benches and waste bins for our office sites.
