Grid integration of RE involves integrated functioning of power system planning, interconnection and operation in order to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilisation of renewable energy while maintaining the stability and reliability of electricity delivery. With a target set by the Government of India to reach 500 GW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, the sector will be facing various challenges to successfully ensure large scale integration of renewable energy in the coming years. However, given the challenges, large scale deployment of renewable energy in India also presents many opportunities such as stability and flexibility to the grid with the support of energy storage, reliability of energy supply during peak demand hours, maximizing the amount of renewable energy consumed, minimize fuel consumption, reduction in fuel-import dependency and maximize overall economic benefit. Overall, effective large scale integration of renewables will help India achieve its vision to become a Net – Zero economy by 2070. .

Given the importance of RE integration into India’s national grid, ReNew Centre of Excellence at IIT Delhi is organizing a Panel Discussion titled “Challenges & Opportunities for large-scale RE integration: A 2030 perspective” in hybrid mode. The panel discussion will be for 1 hour, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A session

  • When: 1st March 2023 from 5 - 6:30 pm.
  • Where: Seminar Hall, IIT Delhi.
