Collection and Use of Information
Information Collected or Received from You
Information Provided by You. When you use our Site, we’ll collect certain information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, email address, postal address, phone number and social security number (“Personal Information”). Our Services also allow you to enter your health or medical history information and union membership information which we use and share as if they were Personal Information. We may also collect your gender, date of birth and other information that is not considered Personal Information because it cannot be used by itself to identify you.
Information Collected Using Cookies and other Web Technologies. Like many website owners and operators, we use automated data collection tools such as Cookies and Web Beacons to collect certain information.
“Web Beacons” (also known as Web bugs, pixel tags or clear GIFs) are tiny graphics with a unique identifier that may be included on our Services for several purposes, including to deliver or communicate with Cookies, to track and measure the performance of our Services, to monitor how many visitors view our Services, and to monitor the effectiveness of our advertising. Unlike Cookies, which are stored on the user’s device, Web Beacons are typically embedded invisibly on web pages (or in an e-mail).
Information Related to Use of the Services. Our servers automatically record certain information about how a person uses our Services (we refer to this information as “Log Data”), including both Account holders and non-Account holders (either, a “User”). Log Data may include information such as a User’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, operating system, the web page that a User was visiting before accessing our Services and information sent by that page, the pages or features of our Services to which a User browsed and the time spent on those pages or features, search terms, the links on our Services that a User clicked on, your transactions on the Services, and other statistics. We use Log Data to administer the Services and we analyze (and may engage third parties to analyze) Log Data to improve, customize and enhance our Services by expanding their features and functionality and tailoring them to our Users’ needs and preferences. We may use a person’s IP address to generate aggregate, non-identifying information about how our Services are used. We may also collect information about you when you utilize telephone support for our Services, when you send us emails, and from third party affiliates, and service providers.
If you interact with certain features of the Services for customer support purposes, Renew or one of our third-party service providers may receive information to view your interaction with the Site in order to provide such customer support services to you. You will be notified that this is happening by the customer support representative.
Information Sent by Your Mobile Device. We collect certain information that your mobile device sends when you use our Services, like a device identifier, device type, browser settings, user settings and the operating system of your device, as well as information about your use of our Services.
Information Collected from Third Parties. We may collect information about you from third parties to identify products that will be best suited to your needs.
Information that We Share with Third Parties
We will not share any Personal Information that we have collected from or regarding you except as described below:
We may also share your Personal Information with our marketing service providers to help us better market our products and services to you. These marketing service providers may use your Personal Information only for the purpose of helping us to provide relevant products and services information to you.
Information Shared with Third Parties. To the extent permitted by law, we may share aggregated information and non-identifying information with third parties for industry research and analysis, demographic profiling and other similar purposes. If you were referred to us by, or use our website or call center in connection with, a current or former employer, affinity group, or other organization with which you may be affiliated (or a benefits administrator or consultant associated with such employer, group or organization), we may disclose your Personal Information to such employer, group, organization, administrator and/or consultant. For example, we may inform such employer, group, organization, administrator and/or consultant whether or not you have enrolled in a plan.
Information Shared with Web Analytics Services Providers
Google. We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”), to gather information about how users engage with our Site and Services. You can opt out of Google’s collection and processing of data generated by your use of the Services by going to http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Other Providers. We may use tools offered by Segment.io Inc. and other similar providers that enable them to collect certain information, including Personal Information, about users and how users engage with our Site and Services.
Information Disclosed in Connection with Business Transactions. Information that we collect from our users, including Personal Information, is considered to be a business asset. Thus, if we are acquired by a third party as a result of a transaction such as a merger, acquisition or asset sale or if our assets are acquired by a third party in the event we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, some or all of our assets, including your Personal Information, may be disclosed or transferred to a third-party acquirer in connection with the transaction.
Information Disclosed for Our Protection and the Protection of Others. We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials or private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We may disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate: (i) to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas); (ii) to protect our property, rights and safety and the property, rights and safety of a third party or the public in general; and (iii) to stop any activity that we consider illegal, unethical or legally actionable activity.
When we collect your Protected Health Information on behalf of an insurer, we are considered to be a “business associate” of that insurer. We have implemented policies and procedures to comply with the HIPAA security standards for safeguarding your Protected Health Information.
We offer you choices regarding the collection, use and sharing of your Personal Information and we’ll respect the choices you make. Please note that if you decide not to provide us with the Personal Information that we request, you may not be able to access all of the features of the Services.
Opt-Out from Calls. We may call you regarding our Services. You are not required to provide your consent to these calls as a condition of any purchase on or through Renew, and you may revoke any consent for phone calls as described below. Standard charges applied by your cell phone carrier will apply. We may monitor and/or record telephone conversations for our business purposes, such as quality assurance and training purposes.
IF YOU WISH TO OPT-OUT OF MARKETING CALLS, TELL US. YOU MAY DO SO DURING A CALL YOU RECEIVE FROM US, BY CALLING BACK THE PHONE NUMBER PROVIDED DURING THE CALL, OR BY CONTACTING US AT [email protected] WITH A REQUEST TO STOP RECEIVING SUCH CALLS AT A SPECIFIED PHONE NUMBER. You may: (i) continue to receive communications while Renew processes your opt-out request, (ii) receive a communication confirming the receipt of your opt-out request, and (iii) after opting out of receiving marketing messages, continue to receive certain non-marketing communications, such as confirmations or updates related to your Account, insurance application or policy, or transactions through the Service.
Modifying Your Information. You can access, modify, and delete the email address, name, gender, birthdate, phone number, physical address, preferred contact method, and opt in/out preferences for contact methods associated with your Account by the functionality provided on the Settings page on your user profile or by contacting us at [email protected]enew.com. Certain information is necessary for us to be able to provide you Services. Accordingly, removal of certain information, such as your email address and birthday may interfere with your access to the Services and may result in cancellation of your Account. We’ll take steps to delete this information as soon we can, but some information may remain in archived/backup copies for our records or as otherwise required by law.
Responding to Do Not Track Signals
Our Site does not have the capability to respond to “Do Not Track” signals received from various web browsers.
The Security of Your Information
We take reasonable administrative, physical and electronic measures designed to protect the information that we collect from or about you (including your Personal Information) from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When you enter sensitive information on our forms, we encrypt this data using HTTPS, SSL, TLS or other technologies. Please be aware, however, that no method of transmitting information over the Internet or storing information is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information.
Links to Other Sites
Your Personal Information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. If you’re located outside the United States and choose to provide your Personal Information to us, we may transfer your Personal Information to the United States and process it there.
Our Policy Toward Children
Our Services are not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information of a child under 13 we will take steps to delete such information from our files as soon as possible.
Your California Privacy Rights
California residents may request and obtain from us, once a year, free of charge, a list of third parties, if any, to which we disclosed their Personal Information for direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year and the categories of Personal Information shared with those third parties.
